Aruba UXI zero-touch onboarding and backhaul using Wi-Fi Easy Connect

By Mandar Ghogale, Technical Marketing Engineer

Aruba User Experience Insight (UXI) G6 and G6C sensors

Aruba User Experience Insight (UXI) G6 and G6C sensors now support Wi-Fi Easy Connect for real zero-touch onboarding and backhaul, providing even better security and a more seamless user experience to businesses. IT teams can now easily onboard UXI sensors without needing a cable pull for LAN or paying for cellular charges. Simply plug the UXI sensor into a power cable or use a Power-over-Ethernet (POE) port as a backup to supply power to the UXI sensor and start monitoring end-user digital experience on the network. Wi-Fi Easy Connect will automatically discover and authenticate the UXI sensor, once authenticated Easy Connect will provision a network configuration to allow it onto the network.

Benefits

  1. Plug and Play – No need to run Ethernet cables for onboarding UXI sensors; plug the UXI G6 or G6E sensors into a power supply and start using them.
  2. Ease of use – Setup the Wi-Fi Easy Connect-enabled SSID in Aruba Central once and all capable sensors will onboard automatically.
  3. Secure – Your network remains secure as new UXI sensors are onboarded with Wi-Fi Easy Connect security support and strong encryption through public key cryptography for authentication. Per-device credentials are assigned to all UXI sensors allowing for them to be uniquely identified on the network.
  4. Backhaul – In case of network failure, UXI sensors might use Wi-Fi Easy Connect enabled SSID to backhaul all reports to the UXI dashboard, helping IT teams stay ahead of outages.
  5. Fast – Quicker and more reliable than BLE or cellular provisioning.
  6. Standardized method – With support to Wi-Fi Easy Connect, Aruba UXI now provides a standardized, consistent method for onboarding sensors.
  7. Zero-Touch – Simple and intuitive to use; no lengthy instructions to follow for new sensors setup. Zero-touch-touch provisioning and configuration of sensors is initiated via downloading device information from the cloud.

Features

  • TPM, or Trusted Platform Module, uses a hardware-based approach to secure the encryption keys recorded on the system and performs cryptographic operations to ensure the integrity of the platform. The keys stored within the TPM are then used to establish the secure onboarding process to identify and connect the UXI sensor to the network.
  • Supports G6 and G6C UXI sensors
  • Integrates with Aruba Central and Aruba APs for Wi-Fi Easy Connect based communication
  • Additional authorization within Central to identify customer-specific UXI sensors
