Securing the permanent record with security-first networking

By Chris Tingley, Senior Solutions Education Marketing Manager, HPE Aruba

I remember the principal telling kids how misbehaving would go on our permanent record. We had no idea why, but somehow the permanent record felt like the most frightening thing a child could imagine. It was the academic naughty list. We had no idea what horrors would await us if our permanent record was tarnished. I still have no idea what the permanent record was or how the principal made us believe in it.

Fast-forwarding to 2024 and our students might not fear the naughty list, but their schools do store their sensitive data.  This data is one of the reasons cybercriminals target schools with ransomware and make the job of securing an institution’s network much harder. Many of the users are children or young adults which also adds to the vulnerability of networks in education. It’s just far too tempting and there are far too many opportunities for cybercrime.

By adopting a security-first, AI-powered network, education institutions can keep the permanent records out of the wrong hands with HPE Aruba Networking Central.  Central is a cloud-based network solution that can allow network administrators to manage any size network from the cloud. In addition to streamlining operations, it can utilize AI-based discovery and profiling of all clients and bring Zero Trust and SASE architecture to the network.

AI-powered automation allows for a proactive approach to security with insights and alerts and frees up time for network operators. It enables students to connect to their education with less fear that their information will end up in the wrong hands.
